Minecraft’s boss became Vice President of Microsoft Studios

Microsoft, who wants to organize its operations in the gaming world, has appointed Minecraft's boss Matt Booty as the Vice President of Microsoft Studios.

As Vice President of Microsoft Studios, Booty will direct console, PC and mobile game development and publishing for studios. THe will have influence in the future of many of the famous productions such as Forza, Halo, Gears of War, Age of Empires and Minecraft.

Prior to his new assignment, Matt Booty was leading Microsoft’s many teams working for Minecraft. Matt Botty will take up the torch from Phil Spencer after he has become the Executive Vice President of Gaming.

According to Spencer’s interview with Gamesbeat, Microsoft wants to invest more in game brands, and Booty’s mission is to expand 343 Industries, The Coalition, Mojang, Turn 10 Studios and Global Publishing teams.

The company’s Minecraft group will be managed by Helen Chiang, who was acting as Booty’s Operations Officer.
