Zynga is opening Istanbul studio

Zynga, one of the world's greatest mobile and browser games developer is preparing to establish its Istanbul studio.

Listed on the New York Stock Exchange, Zynga is famous for developing free games like FarmVille that reach hundreds of millions of players. The company decided to focus on the Turkish market by establishing its Istanbul studio.

Zynga has done a well-rounded acquisition deal with the successful Turkish studio Peak Games to break into the Turkish gaming market. According to the deal, Peak Games’ Spades Plus, GinRummy Plus and 101 Okey Plus games as well as the developing teams have become a part of Zynga for $100 million.

Around thirty developers from Peak Games are expected to join Zynga’s new Istanbul studio. Management or exact location of this new office is yet unknown. Also company hasn’t listed any open positions for this new office in their website.

Peak Games will continue to hold the rights of Toy Blast and Toon Blast with a team of sixty developers. These two titles are still enough to keep them in Top10 in US mobile gaming market.

While Zynga CEO Frank Gibeau has indicated that it is a great opportunity for them to buy card games from the Turkish studio, Peak Games will no longer develop card games but focus on casual puzzle genre.

After this new acquisition Zynga also became undisputed No#1 in $400 million Turkey mobile games market. They hold 2 of top 3 positions, both in App Store and Google Play top grossing list.

Growing big with acquisitions, Zynga bought NaturalMotion studio for $527 million which previously developed popular games such as CSR Racing and Dawn of Titans.
